Coming Home to Our Senses

Coming Home to Our Senses

Come home to your senses with Trudy Goodman, Gullu Singh and Gabrielle Hammond.

Time in retreat allows us to step away from the demands of everyday life and listen deeply to our body, heart and mind. The purpose of this practice is to turn our attention to what brings true peace and happiness in life while cultivating more resilience, compassion and wisdom, both in responding to suffering in the world and in our own hearts.

Most of the retreat is held in silence, with periods of sitting and walking meditation.  Expect guided meditations, teaching talks, qigong practices and a teacher-led practice discussion meeting for each participant.

Retreatants are given guidance to encourage the practice of mindfulness in all the retreat activities, staying with their own present experience as it unfolds, moment to moment.

Registration for this retreat closes on May 1st, 2025 at 11:59pm Pacific Time.

This retreat is offered both in person, on land, and online.

More details and registration available on the BBRC website soon!

The Dharma of Desire with Trudy Goodman and Lisa Ernst

Trudy is joined by Lisa Ernst for this special retreat in Big Bear.

On the path of awakening, sometimes we may believe desire is a problem to be eradicated.  Yet when we get curious about desire and look at our relationship to it, we can enter more deeply into the fertile ground of our own being and move closer to the heart.  In this retreat we will have the opportunity to explore desire in a supportive, non-judgmental space that allows us to open our hearts and meet desire with compassion and insight. When we hold desire in the crucible of wisdom and understanding, it transforms into loving presence.

This retreat will include sitting and walking meditation, instructions, dharma talks and discussion.

This silent retreat is suitable for all levels of experience.

The Magic of Awareness

to Jun 21

The Magic of Awareness

Trudy is joined by James Baraz, Anam Thubten, and Jill White Lindsay for this transformative retreat at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.

The paradox of awareness is profound and yet very simple. It can’t be described because it has no objective qualities and no limitations. Sometimes it comes naturally to the surface when we are fully in the present moment and no longer lost in thoughts or mental projections. Awareness is neither pleasant nor unpleasant, neither good nor bad.

In this retreat we will learn how to pay attention to this quality of awareness through formal and informal meditation. Once we know how to pay attention, it can be experienced in an instant, in all circumstances. When we learn to reside in that liberated mind, we find the very thing we have been seeking all along.

This retreat includes silent sitting and walking periods combined with instructions and practice meetings with teachers and daily Dharma talks. This retreat is silent except for teacher-led Q&A, small groups, or other practice meetings.
